Silencing the Voice of Doubt...

Updated: Feb 4, 2022

How the voice of doubt creeps in and how to over come it!

Hello,

Have you ever had an idea and then an explosion of other ideas? Maybe God called you to start a blog or a business? Once an idea pops up it becomes like popcorn! One idea after another. Then creeps in the voice of doubt. Another word for doubt is what we know as second-guessing.

I had been working so hard to get my business off the ground and months had passed and I was still barely making it. I started to doubt if this was even what God wanted me to do!? I love designing and building new projects for women. It’s something so amazing as the words of the writer transform into a powerful tool that can reach people all over the world. That is my passion--to help women, but in the journey of helping women my business was still struggling. I was struggling and questioning my hard work. Struggling to juggle a part-time job, full-time business with part-time wages and so much more.

Then negative thoughts came to my mind. Very few people notice you when you’re starting a vision or goal the Lord gives you. No one sees the struggles behind the scenes. In this process, you may even begin to doubt if you heard from God. Some days you even wonder if you’ll see your vision come to reality. Some people may cheer for you, while others may not. The list goes on through this journey, but it’s not about what others think or even about your failures. It's really about staying true to your calling, your assignment from God.

The journey of becoming is really about you growing into who God created you to be!

On this journey you will experience heart lessons, challenges to overcome, and incredible transformation! God takes us through these journeys for good reasons. Even when the enemy uses it for bad, God turns EVERYTHING OUT FOR GOOD. My heart was drawn to the story of Moses which starts in the book of Exodus. Moses killed a man, but God still chose Him and prepared him to set His people free!

Our failures may seem difficult to get past because of shame and guilt, but God sees past the failures...He sees the end from the beginning.

Questions you should reflect on for your paper moments with God...

  1. Am I questioning the vision God gave me because I feel inexperienced for the call?

  2. Am I not answering or following through because of what people may say, especially those close to me?

  3. What are things that may be holding me back from moving forward: myself, people, or finances?

Exodus chapter four shows us an example of how we sometimes respond to God's call. Even when God told Moses what to do, Moses doubted that people would believe him. He thought, "I don’t speak well, and I’m not eloquent!" These were all not just excuses, but the voice of doubt. Moses continued to make excuses, but God didn’t give up on Moses.

“So the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and He said: “Is not Aaron the Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well. And look, he is also coming out to meet you. When he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. Now you shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth. And I will be with your mouth and with his mouth, and I will teach you what you shall do. So he shall be your spokesman to the people. And he shall be as a mouth for you, and you shall be to him as God. And you shall take this rod in your hand, with which you shall do the signs (Exodus‬ ‭4:14-17).”

You may have given up on the vision God has given you and I hope you haven’t given up on yourself even before you’ve started. There’s a promise for you before the journey, during and at the end. God may not reveal everything, but He wants your trust and obedience to Him. As you trust in God, He promises to carry you through each step of the way.

His rod and his staff are with you (Psalms 23).

Don’t let doubt rob you of writing your prayer journal or devotional. It can save a soul! Don’t lose hope in starting your business! It can help millions of people! Don’t doubt yourself just because the evil one whispers uncertainty in your ears. Believe in yourself because the one who CALLED you, believes in you!

Prayer:

Dear God,

I pray against the spirit of doubt and destroy the root of fear! I will overcome by the blood of the lamb and the power of my testimony! No weapons formed against me shall prosper. I will submit all my ways to you and follow your lead. Teach me as you taught Moses and help me through my weaknesses. You are my strong tower and my fortress when I am weak. To you be the glory forever. Amen.
